Desc | Common murre.As mentioned in the previous post, the fog was super thick at the St Mary's Ecological Reserve in Newfoundland the day we visited. This common murre (Uria aalge) kindly landed 3m from the viewing area, allowing a clean close up portrait.. .At the time I thought the murres were black on white. The image reveals their head color to be more brown-black. This is their breeding plumage.. .I don't recall what was in the background to create that bluish-grey color. My guess is that it appears to be solid because of the thick fog. |
