DescPiazza del Campidoglio on Capitol in Rome was designed by Michelangelo in 1536, but he did not live to see the project completed. The buildings on the piazza are Palazzo Nuovo (left), Palazzo Senatorio (centre) and Palazzo dei Conservatori. In the centre of the piazza is a copy of a statue of Marcus Aurelius, roman emperor from 161 to his death in 180.
